Garland County Educators' Federal Credit Union Community Outreach

The GCEFCU Community Outreach Project was born of the minds of our Board of Directors in Fall 2006. It was thought that since we serve the Garland County Educational Community that we give back to them as well. This fund was established to specifically benefit underprivileged students in the Garland County school system.

In 2006, the Credit Union, with Board approval, contributed $10,000.00 back to the schools thru this project. In 2007, the Credit Union contributed $6,600.00 to the fund, and along with matching grants of $3,400.00 from local Walmart stores, another $10,000.00 was appropriated for our school children.

In 2008, a $500.00 scholarship was awarded to a graduating senior from EACH participating school, with a total of eight (8) scholarships awarded. The balance of the fund was then disbursed according to census at each participating school.

100% OF FUNDS COLLECTED ARE RETURNED TO THE SCHOOLS.

Each school earmarks and utilizes these monies to provide for student needs such as school supplies, clothing and hygiene products, medical, dental and vision expenses, etc., needed to make learning and growing possible.

Real heroes in this world are not actors, musicians or celebrities, but they are people like YOU, our members, (the teachers, guidance counselors, cafeteria workers, custodians, administrators, etc.) that fill our children's brains with knowledge and experience. To those of you that fill their tummies and clean their messes. WE APPLAUD YOU.
